Maunsell Morsels and Mainline Coaches

Hello, and welcome to the latest edition of the Engine Shed! With just over two months to go until the 2022 Hornby range is launched it is all go at Hornby HQ and we’re all looking forward to being able to finally share the big projects for next year. In the meantime though, what we can confirm is that the Hornby 2022 range will be launched on 10th January – so mark your diaries and set your alarms!

Now back to the current range and in this month’s edition it is very much picture perfect! In keeping with the old adage, ‘A picture paints a thousand words’, we have a selection of decorated samples of the new Mk3, Mk4, and Maunsell coaches which we can’t stop looking at – wait until you see the close ups! First, we will begin with two new Maunsell coaches.

The latest decorated samples of the GNER designed Mk.4 coaches arrived earlier this week with the following showing the high detail and the superbly applied livery that has been applied to these coaches:

Included with each coach will be newly developed close couplings which will allow for the minimum of gaps between each coach:

Hornby Christmas Grotto

It’s official, Christmas is now just around the corner and following the success from last year we are excited to welcome back the Hornby Christmas Grotto, which will go live on Monday 1st November! The Grotto will feature a whole host of festive goodness including seasonal videos, which will cover top Christmas gifts and stocking fillers, a jolly Kids Zone with plenty of fun activities, a ‘Dear Hornby’ wish list and tonnes more! Model Shot of the Year 2021

Wow! We have been absolutely blown away with the entries received for the Model Shot of the Year 2021 – the attention to detail has been second to none and some of the images look so real that we’ve had to double take! With over 250 entries to judge we have a task on our hands, but nonetheless the shortlisted entries will be selected and then announced on Friday 5th November, when it will then go to a social media vote – the most liked photo will be crowned the winner! Made For Mums Toy Awards

If you read last month’s Engine Shed Blog you may recall that the Playtrains ‘Flash’ The Local Express Train Set was shortlisted in the Made for Mums Toy Awards for Best Toy Vehicle – well following this, we are pleased to share that ‘Flash’ won a bronze award in the specified category!
