What is the pre-grouping era?
The pre-grouping era spans 1870 - 1922. This was a huge period of growth for the railways, as technology advanced and passenger numbers speedily increased.
It was also a period of high competition, with railway companies battling to win the Race to the North and many locomotives topping the 100mph speed mark. You can recreate this exciting time on your own model railway layout with the locomotives and rolling stock included in this section.
