How To:

Building your Hornby Layout

Building a model railway is not a race. The hobby of railway modelling is a wonderful pastime that can offer so much to so many in numerous different ways.

There are some modellers who enjoy the creation of a beautifully sceniced layout with picture postcard detail while there are others who just want to lay the track and watch the trains go round and round. There are others who obtain their enjoyment from creating a complex layout, intricately wired so that it can run almost automatically, while others desire simplicity and desire a much more uncomplicated approach to building their layout. For many it is the fulfilment of a life long dream, something that they have always wanted to do but just never quite had the time until now. Then there are those who are building a layout for their children or maybe grandchildren but whichever the case creating a model railway is to be enjoyed and approached that way. If you are new to modelling then take your time and keep it simple. Learn as you progress and as time moves on you will hone your skills and keep on learning. Never be dissatisfied with your first attempts as you can always go back at a later date and improve, just as long as the trains travel around the track without derailing or having unscheduled stops all is good.
