While most businesses are starting to slow down in January after the chaos of Christmas, things are only just getting started in the Hornby offices. Our January range launch announcement is always our biggest moment of the year, and we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. This month’s update will delve into that and look at what else has been happening in the past few weeks.

The Hornby January OO gauge range launch

We announced over 150 new products on the 14th January, which is far too many to mention them all here. So, let’s take a look at some of the most popular items so far.

Sovereign Pullman - Train Set

This luxury train set is a departure from our usual set offerings, aimed at the collector’s market, rather than new modellers. Although it might be a starting point for some modellers, the Sovereign Pullman is far more detailed than our traditional RailRoad set offerings. The A4 locomotive has a high die-cast content, with working lights and a pre-fitted HM7000 sound decoder and steam generator technology. It pulls three Pullman coaches, and the set comes with track and power, so you can get moving straight out of the box.

BR - Rebuilt Merchant Navy - 35028 'Clan line' - Preserved (With Steam Generator)

The newly tooled ‘Clan Line’ has been a popular pick amongst pre-orderers. Featuring our innovative steam generator technology, this powerful locomotive also has a high die-cast metal count and powerful 5-pole skew-wound motor. It’s incredibly highly detailed and is pre-fitted with a 21-pin HM7000 decoder and speaker. It’s easy to see why model railway enthusiasts are loving this model.

BR - Battle of Britain Class - 34057 'Biggin Hill' & BR - West Country - 34006 'Bude' - Train Pack

The Hornby Club Exclusive model is being snapped up by our members, eager to get their hands on these attractive late-BR-liveried locomotives. Featuring two of the legendary southern ‘Pacifics’, this is a wonderful choice for collectors and modellers. But if you want to get your hands on one, you’ll have to sign up to the Hornby Club (which is free to join, by the way!)

LNER - Class A4 - 'Mallard' (With Steam Generator)

Forever a favourite amongst long-term enthusiasts and newcomers to the hobby, ‘Mallard’ has had an update for 2026 and now includes our steam generator technology. It retains that attractive lined garter-blue livery, and has working lights too. With a die-cast chassis, highly detailed design, 5-pole skew-wound motor and illuminated flickering firebox, there’s a lot to like about this version of the famous locomotive.

LNER - Class A4 - 4498 'Sir Nigel Gresley' with figure - Limited Edition (150th Anniversary Collection)

This highly collectible model locomotive has been a huge hit in Sir Nigel Gresley’s 150th birthday year. The perfect way to celebrate the man who brought us some of the most iconic locomotives to ever grace British railways, this stylish Class A4 locomotive comes with a figure of the birthday legend himself. And, as a limited-edition model with a lot of pre-orders to its name, it’s one you’ll want to secure sooner rather than later.

LNER - 'West Riding Limited' Coach packs

Your preferred choice of coach this range launch has been the LNER ‘West Riding Limited’ offerings. These elegant blue coaches come in the pairs they would have been set up in back in the late 1930s, and you can build a full rake to sit behind your A4 locomotive model. These highly detailed coaches include sprung metal buffers and NEM tension lock couplings for the most authentic model railway experience.
