Hello, and welcome to the final TT:120 range launch of the year - hasn’t it gone fast? We will soon be in 2027, which will be a big year for TT with huge tooling projects – the LMS Black 5, BR Class 31, Seacow/Sealions, HEA/MEA, TEA, and LMS 20T brake van – all due to arrive into stock!
But that’s not all, as in today’s announcement we have another THREE, yes, three, new tooling projects to reveal in celebration of TT:120 turning four years old this October. And we know for certain that a lot of you are going to be brushed away with our flagship diesel locomotive release.

To probably no one’s surprise, Hornby are delighted to announce that we will be producing a Class 47 in TT:120. If the LMS Black 5 was the mixed traffic, do-anything workhorse of the steam era, then the Class 47 has a rightful claim to being the diesel equivalent. This class of 512 locomotives were allocated to every conceivable type of traffic, be it lightly loaded ‘trip’ workings, merry-go-round coal flows, parcels trains, express passenger services, or even prestigious Royal Train duties, these ‘Spoons’ did it all. The first wave includes three liveries: BR Two-Tone Green, BR Large Logo Blue, and Virgin Trains Red, with more to be revealed next year.

It’s a diesel invasion this month, as we have three more Class 37s to show off. First up is a hotly requested release in BR Green with yellow warning panels and a centre headcode, numbered D6865. The other two are firm favourites of the post-privatisation era, depicting Class 37s in the ownership of Colas Rail and Rail Operations Group, numbered 37421 and 37800, respectively.

Coaches are getting a bit of love this autumn with two new variants of the MK1 and Mk2F joining the range. Let’s start with the Mk2F Restaurant First Buffet – this useful catering carriage was first introduced to long distance inter regional services in the late 1980’s, and a select few continue to serve customers on charter trains. The initial trio includes an example in BR InterCity Swallow, Virgin Trains Red, and one in retro BR Blue and Grey owned by WCR. The InterCity and Virgin Trains versions pair beautifully with our all-new Class 47, and the WCR version will look great mixed in with a rake of Blue and Grey Mk2E/Fs. We may even have some more WCR rolling stock to announce next year, so watch this space.

MK1 coach family: the Tourist Second Open. It’s not flashy, but it is undoubtedly one of the most important components to any railway operation set between the 1950’s and present day. More than 1200 TSOs were constructed over a period of 12 years, and they plied their trade on every region of BR in a variety of liveries. Our first offering of the TSO includes two paint schemes: BR Maroon and BR Blue and Grey, which will allow you to bolster your rake of existing Mark 1s.

Complementing these TSOs are a new run of the Mk1 Composite Corridor and Brake Second Corridor in BR Maroon with bodyside crests, which adorned Mk1s in the transitional period before the introduction of BR Blue and Grey.

Our final new coaching stock to reveal is a rake of Mk2E’s in BR InterCity Executive guise – worn by this type of coach in the 1980’s and picked specifically to bolster InterCity Blue and Grey Mk2s, and to go behind Class 31s, 47s and 50s. There’s never been a better time to join the diesel revolution!

You’ve asked, and we’ve listened. A number of Mk3s in BR Blue and Grey are coming back into stock, allowing you to flesh out the Inter-City 125 High Speed Train available in the TT1004M and TT1004TXSM sets. Four SKU’s are being reproduced, TT4023/4/5/6, which cover the TGS, TS, TRUB, and TF.

The TT:120 range of buildings is getting a huge extension this month with 13 ready-to-go structures announced. Anyone thinking of adding a depot to their layout will be pleased to see Storage Tanks, Portacabins and a Diesel Fuelling Point added, and lineside infrastructure is boosted by the addition of a concrete footbridge, modern signal box, road bridge, and tunnel portals. Lastly, anyone in need of a town scene is in luck, as a new range of modular terrace houses and a corner shop add a bit of urban charm to TT:120.

That is all for our final TT announcement of the year. Undoubtedly the star of the show, the Class 47 will pique a lot of people's interest, as either the ideal loco to make a start in our Table Top scale, or to add to your established collection. The next TT:120 announcement is scheduled for the Spring of 2027, so in the meantime, happy modelling!
