TT3032M GBRf - Class 66 - 66725 'Sunderland'
Product Info
The Hornby TT:120 GBRf Class 66 Co-Co 66725 ‘Sunderland’ is a richly detailed model, representing one of the UK’s most reliable and versatile freight locomotives, the Class 66. Finished in GBRf’s striking blue and orange livery, this locomotive proudly carries the name of the City of Sunderland (with included etched nameplates), reflecting the operator’s strong regional connections.
This model is DCC-ready, featuring an 18-pin socket for straightforward digital conversion. A powerful 5-pole skew-wound motor, directional and interior lighting (including working headlamps), NEM couplings and metal buffers enhance the authenticity of your model.
The Class 66 is a true workhorse of the modern railway, making it well-suited to a range of freight duties. This locomotive pairs perfectly with intermodal container wagons such as KFA, IFA and MGR wagons.
TTA wagons, frequently used for fuel transport, also complement the Class 66, allowing for a realistic and visually striking freight formation.
History
Delivered in early 2007, this low-emission locomotive was among the last group of Class 66 locomotives ordered for service in the UK, delivered from Canada to the UK in February 2016.
Increasingly stringent emission rules meant that the Class 66 design could no longer comply without adding equipment that would place it outside of the UK’s loading gauge.
GBRf-owned 66725 carries a special blue livery with red and white trim, and a ‘Sunderland’ nameplate in the style of the old LNER ‘Footballers’ Class in homage to Sunderland FC football club.
