Experience the Legend: The Scotsman Express Train Set
Since 1862, The Scotsman has been Britain’s most famous express train, a symbol of speed, luxury, and engineering excellence. Racing from London to Edinburgh non-stop, this legendary express train revolutionised rail travel, setting records and capturing hearts. More than just a train, The Scotsman is a moving piece of British history, representing a golden era of steam travel.
A Journey fit for a King
Steam locomotives hauled the London to Edinburgh East Coast Mainline route for almost a century, starting with Stirling ‘Singles’, followed by Ivatt Class C1’s before Sir Nigel Gresley’s A1, A3 and A4 Pacific’s powered the service. The model included in this train set is A1 Class ‘Blink Bonny’ carrying the glorious apple green LNER paint scheme, named after a thoroughbred racehorse famous in the 1850’s.
Blink Bonny is paired with three Pullman Kitchen Dining Cars named ‘Cecilia’ and ‘Chloria’, a Third Break Parlour numbered 3. These magnificent Cars would have provided a dining experience worthy of the first class traveller of the era.
