Railway 200
Celebrate 200 years of train travel with Hornby
This year marks the 200th anniversary of the modern railway. On 27th September 1825, George Stephenson's Locomotion No.1 carried 450 passengers from Darlington to Stockton for the very first time, as over 40,000 onlookers watched in awe. The passenger railway system is a British innovation that has spread around the world, connecting communities and making long-distance travel a reality.
We're delighted to be a part of the Railway 200 celebrations, along with many other railway-based partners. There will be anniversary activities around the country all year.
You can find out more about how we are getting involved right here!
