This small but mighty diesel-electric locomotive is based on one of the few in its class to escape destruction. The original now sits in the National Railway Museum, preserved in all its glory. Our model depicts this vehicle at its shiny best!
The 08632, Class 08 got a fresh lick of paint in 2021, decorated in this bright, cheerful Loram livery. This design shows that the older these Class 08 locos get, the better they become.

The original Aureol electric locomotive travelled extensively across the UK during its working life. From Lancashire to Crewe, Carlisle, Camden, Bescot, and Longsight, it was one of only three Class 40s to have an official naming ceremony in 1960. You can see the red and white painted namebadge, with its final running number on the side of our replica scale model.

The ‘Empress of Britain’ was one of the first Class 40 locomotives created. Named after an impressive sea vessel, this scale model is representative of the hope inspired by these powerful machines. The original loco has now been scrapped, but you can give it a new lease of life on your model railway.
