We’re delighted to announce ‘Model Shot of the Year’ is back for 2024!
It’s been a privilege to see how unique and personal the model railway hobby is to the community, and we can’t wait to see more. So, whether you enjoy the hobby, trainspotting or photography – this competition is perfect for you!

Thank you so much to everyone who took the time and effort to enter our Hornby 'Model Shot of the Year 2024' competition. There have been so many incredible images, making it a tough decision for our judges! But, we are glad to announce and congratulate our six shortlisted entries.

Voting closes on November 10th at 23:59 BST.
GUEST JUDGES
Our judges will select X3 over 18 entries and X3 under 18 entries. These six shortlisted photos will then be put to a social media vote.
JACK BOSKETT
Jack's work first appeared in The Railway Magazine in 2005, which sparked his passion for photographing the railway scene.
Today, he continues to contribute to the publication, with his own column appearing each month. His photography has gained widespread recognition in various railway publications, and his work is known throughout the UK rail network and Heritage Railways.
His experience and skills have also allowed him to photograph prominent figures, including Prime Ministers, celebrities from stage and screen, and members of the Royal Family. Follow '@jackboskett' to see more of his work!
JENNY KIRK
Jenny Kirk is well known within the modelling community for her prolific work in the hobby. This has included championing the hobby on television in ‘Biggest Little Railway’, ‘Great Model Railway Challenge’ and ‘Hornby: a model World’. She has also written for magazines in the UK, US and Scandinavia and promotes the hobby via her Youtube channel.
With a keen eye for detail, Jenny has an extensive knowledge of the hobby and offers an easy to follow approach to capturing the unique character and essence of railway scenes.
PRIZES
Runner up models will be selected by Hornby and sent directly to the runner up winners. Winners may be asked for input on preference but the model given is not guaranteed to be what is asked for.
