History

The renowned Blue Pullman livery returned to Britain’s railways in 2020 when Crewe-based Locomotive Services Limited relaunched one of its HST sets in Nanking blue and white livery, comprising power cars 43046 and 43055 and nine Mk3 coaches. The livery was originally carried by BR’s Met-Camm luxury Pullman diesel train, which operated from 1960 to 1973. Both power cars were previously operated by East Midlands Trains, and 43046 carries the name ‘Geoff Drury 1930-1999 – Steam Preservation and Computerised Track Recording Pioneer’, which is a contender for the longest name carried by an operational locomotive on Network Rail. The striking Pullman set is used principally on rail tours and charters.

What is the One:One Collection?

Imagine a collection of railway locomotives and other vehicles in which the subjects are not scale models but the real thing. The The One:One Collection​​​​​​​ is a unique gathering of some of the most iconic and historically important railway locomotives, rolling stock and memorabilia in the United Kingdom.

Each vehicle in the collection has either undergone or is undergoing painstaking restoration to return it to museum-quality presentation, with many of the vehicles being certified for use on the United Kingdom’s rail network. From time to time, The One:One Collection Museum will host guest locomotives for periods of medium or long-term storage and display.

When these locomotives are at the Margate warehouse, they will become honorary members of The One:One Collection for promotion and merchandising purposes. As part of The One:One Collection, we are pleased to showcase this model.

Significant improvements over the Mk2 included new secondary air suspension between the bogies and the coach body as well as aerodynamic skirting on the underframe. Mk3a stock differs from Mk3 stock due to the inclusion of buffers as well as a different electrical system that uses motor generator units in each coach to power air conditioning and other ancillaries Mk3a stock was built until 1984, before 3B stock with improved seating and lighting was built from 1985 to 1988.
