Hello and welcome to another edition of Engine Shed! Clearly, we’re a day late coming to you this week and that’s because we wanted to bring you the latest information direct from The Warley National Model Railway Exhibition at the NEC, Birmingham. We realise that not everyone can get to Warley, so read on to get all of the announcements and surprises from the show.
This afternoon (being such consummate public speakers, ahem) we delivered a presentation to an audience of eager model railway enthusiasts at the show and announced not one, but TWO new items for 2016 - these were deliberately held back from yesterday's launch of the Hornby 2016 range.
So without further ado we’re pleased to announce to you, the Engine Shed reader, that the 0-8-0 Raven Q6 Class and 4-6-0 Holden B12 Class have been added to the 2016 range! Both models will be released in 2016 in LNER, Early BR and Late BR liveries, and work on them is progressing very nicely indeed.
We’ll take a more detailed look at the B12 and Q6 in a future edition of The Engine Shed, but take a look below at our progress so far.

Above is our Stereo Sample of 4-6-0 Holden B12 Class which we received not long ago. The B12 is being tooled as we speak and we're hoping to receive the first shots from the tooling very soon.

Decoration sample for the 0-8-0 Raven Q6 Class
During our preparation for our 2016 range launch and for today's announcement, we came across some footage we shot way back in April 2015 in our old workshop. It is a little shaky but it didn't half bring back some memories! We wanted to share it with you so you can see where the above Decoration Samples came from and it also shows how long we've been looking forward to this point, when we can start telling you all about it!
Both the B12 and the Q6 are available for pre-order now and we'll bring your their full story in a future edition of The Engine Shed.
The Warley National Model Railway Exhibition
Warley is one of our favourite weekends of the year, and for our marketing team and for us it is the culmination of months of hard work.
Crowds gather to view the Hornby layouts at Warley 2014
Visitors to our stand can see the progress we’ve made on the 2016 products we’ve announced here in The Engine Shed, as well as products that have been in the works for a while, and those that have just been released. So, not wanting to leave anyone out, here's a look at what's on show this year at Warley!

Announced back in May 2016 we have just taken delivery of the decoration sample for the highly anticipated Collett 'Bow Ended' Standard 57' Corridor Stock Coaches. These are looking great and with just a few tweaks to iron out, will be a great release for 2016. They will also be the perfect rolling stock for the newly released 6000 King Class!
The Class 71

We announced that we would be producing these iconic electric locos back in 2014 and last year at Warley, visitors were lucky enough to witness the first stereo samples that had only just arrived. Now, in 2015 we are really excited to show you the fully decorated sample of the Class 71! We couldn't be prouder of the detail that has been achieved with these locos, it is a testament to LIDAR 3D scanning technology and months of hard work.
The Adams Radial

Expected early in 2016, the Adams Radial was a star at Warley last year and has been featured numerous times in The Engine Shed - we caused a particular stir when we left some of our new SR 58’ Maunsell Rebuilt (ex-LSWR 48’) coaches on the back of a running sample! We first revealed the Adams Radial at Warley last year, and this year, visitors can view the final pre-production samples of what is shaping up to be a really exciting release!
The Peckett & Sons W4 0-4-0ST

Having been announced in The Engine Shed back in October, we've had hundreds of suggestions as to which livery the Peckett & Sons W4 0-4-0ST should be produced in. We're still collating all the data and we should have some more information for you soon, until then though, we're showing a Stereo Sample of the little loco sprayed black at Warley and we hope visitors come armed with more suggestions and photographs of possible liveries! Our Official Forum topic is still open on the subject so if you haven't already, make sure you upload a reliable colour photograph of the Peckett W4 in a livery you'd like to see produced.
The Un-rebuilt Merchant Navy Class

Another very exciting 2016 release is the Un-rebuilt Merchant Navy Class. Still in its Stereo Sample stage, the the Un-rebuilt Merchant Navy Class is on display at Warley and work on the loco is still on-going. Keep an eye out in future Engine Shed posts for more information about its progress.
Finally, we've also just unveiled the first Hornby Handbook, Rather than just being a traditional product catalogue, the Hornby Handbook will be your one-stop source of information for all things Hornby in 2016, with exclusive news and information about the latest products and new releases for the year.
The 2016 Hornby Handbook will be available from your local Hornby stockist or newsagents nationwide from December, or order your copy from the website now.
Well that about wraps things up, come and say hello to us if you’re at Warley - we’ll be here all weekend and are really looking forward to meeting you all. Be sure to post your photos of the event on our Facebook and Twitter pages as well as on our Official Forums, and let us know what you think of The Engine Shed – we love to hear your feedback.
See you soon
