Welcome to The Engine Shed

Welcome to The Engine Shed, an exciting new addition to the Hornby website.

Every two weeks we will be taking you behind the scenes of the Hornby Product Development department with a blog written by the Hornby developers themselves, including the latest news, details and pictures of Hornby models, often many months before they are released.

Sometimes the blog will focus on one particular development method, for example the use of Computer Aided Design, LIDAR scanning or 3D printing; some weeks it may follow the job of one particular member of the Hornby team, or concentrate on a single 'hero' product in development. Whatever the subject, The Engine Shed will give you a fascinating insight into how Hornby models are created, from initial research to final finished product.

There will also be a dedicated Engine Shed forum where you can discuss Hornby Development news, and even suggest what you would like to see on the blog. We'll do our best to answer your specific questions for the team, but bear in mind that they are very busy designing the 2016 and 2017 Hornby ranges!

To whet your appetite before the next Engine Shed blog, we're going to be taking a first look at the latest decorated pre-production sample of the S15 Class, listening in on the sound test of the King Class and lots more.

We really hope you like The Engine Shed. Drop us a line in the Engine Shed Forum and let us know what you'd like to see in future weeks.

Alternatively, send us a tweet @hornby using #hornbyengineshed.

See you in a fortnight!
