

The Hornby Visitor Centre partnered with the One:One Collection for an incredible Open Weekend. The event took place on the 17th-18th August and provided two days of jam-packed entertainment. Thank you to those who came down, it was a wonderful chance to meet so many of you!

Class 5MT 'Black 5' locomotive
The One:One Collection Museum at the Hornby site in Margate is not fully open to the public, but attendees of our Open Weekend had an exclusive up close look at some of the stunning full-size locomotives and rolling stock. These included the iconic Class A4 'Bittern' and Class 5MT 'Black 5', plus a 50 tonne breakdown crane 'Cowans Sheldon' was on display.

Hornby Signal Box broadcast a very special episode live from the event. Mike and Montana hosted a show filled to the brim with tours and interviews, including chats with Simon Kohler and Hornby CEO Lyndon Davies.
Alongside this, Hornby had a great selection of displays that proved incredibly popular, including the One:One Collection 00 gauge models ‘Bittern’ and ‘Black 5’.

A wonderful array of exhibitors came and displayed some excellent models and layouts. The Hornby Magazine stand had an impressive West Coast Mainline layout and BRM had some unique models from their 'Cakebox Challenge'. Plus, fans of The Great Model Railway Challenge on Channel 5 were treated to brilliant displays from Laurie Calvert and Callum Willcox.
