Hornby May 2026 News Update

May was a month full of new arrivals, Playtrains fun and new content. If you spent your double bank holiday month absorbed in model railway fun, you could easily have missed what was happening here at Hornby, so here’s your chance to catch up!

New arrivals

There have been so many new models at the Hornby station this month! Including a big delivery of new RailRoad models and a few highly anticipated TT:120 locomotives.

Our last run of DP1 ‘Deltics’ was a hit, so we are delighted to be able to bring you this second run of a fan favourite. This is an accurate replica of the Deltic currently on display in Locomotion, Shildon.

Southern Rail - Class T9 – 302

The wait is over – the Greyhound is now in stock and ready to run around your layout. This highly detailed model is an excellent replica of an era 3 locomotive, with NEM couplings and a comprehensive accessories pack.

Stephenson’s Rocket

This lovely locomotive went out of stock almost immediately, as model railway collectors scrambled to get their hands on one. If you missed out on the individual model, it is still available as part of our Birth of the Railways Train Pack.

If your GWR High-Speed train rake is lacking, you’ll be pleased to know that our GWR Mk3 coaches are now in stock. There’s a Trailer Guard Standard coach, a First Class Open Coach and a Buffet Car, so your service can cater for everyone.

Playtrains - Track Expansion Pack

This is the news that all young modellers who received a Playtrains set for Christmas have been waiting for! The Playtrains Track Expansion Pack is now available to buy, so they can expand their model railway fun!

Speaking of expanding their Playtrains world – we’ve just announced lots of new Playtrains products that are sure to excite your little ones!

The star of the launch is the Harry Potter Hogwarts Express Train Set (with steam). This charming set is sure to appeal to all would-be wizards and is all the more fascinating thanks to its live steam capability, working lights, and lifelike sounds.

You can also buy the Hogwarts Express locomotive and matching coaches separately if you prefer.

If Harry Potter is not their thing, we also have a stylish new Playtrains - Blue Ranger Steam Train (with Steam), complementing coaches, and a freight wagon for them to enjoy.
