History:
Built at English Electric’s Vulcan Foundry, this locomotive entered service in April 1965 as BR No. D6976. Allocated to Cardiff Canton from new, it became No. 37276 in March 1974. In 1985, it was rebuilt with a Brush alternator and Electric Train Heating (ETH) and reclassified as a Class 37/4. It received a repaint into large logo livery and was given the number 37413.
Two years later, it was named ‘Loch Eil Outward Bound’. The entire sub-class was transferred to Transrail in 1994, one of three regional freight operating companies set up prior to the privatisation of BR. No. 37413 was one of a few Class 37/4s to be repainted into triple grey and brandished with Transrail corporate logos, which is the condition depicted on this model.
It was renamed ‘The Scottish Railway Preservation Society’ in August 1997, but withdrawn in December 2000.
