Hornby November 2025 News Update

Here’s your latest run-down of all the events, activities, and exciting new arrivals in the Hornby office last month. Read on to find out what you missed.

New arrivals

Branch Line Freight Train Set

Our latest TT:120 train set is now in stock and has been one of our biggest sellers, introducing lots of beginners and experienced modellers to the wonderful world of the smaller scale. Featuring a highly detailed B4 Class tank engine, a plank wagon based on Bestwood Iron Works and a grey Southern Railways closed wagon, this charming set that comes with everything the beginner modeller needs to get started.

The Beatles Wagons

We know these wagons spark a lot of discussion in the model railway world, but as fans of the Fab Four, we can’t get enough of them. And many of you agree, as these wagons are selling fast! Collect the set in time for the four new films dedicated to The Beatles due in 2028. The models include four Anthology wagons, and wagons celebrating album covers such as ‘Meet The Beatles’, ‘Second Album’, ‘Hard Day’s Night’ and ‘Yellow Submarine’.

TT:120 Terriers

The ever-popular Terriers are now in stock for TT:120 fans. Choose from BR - Terrier – 32655 and SR - Terrier - W14 'Bembridge', both of which feature a powerful coreless motor, a die-cast body and NEM tension lock couplings. These charming locomotives might look little, but they had a big impact on the steam railways of the time and they’ll look right at home on your model railway layout.

Playtrains Steam Tank Engine Express

We welcomed a new Playtrains locomotive into our warehouse this month too! The Steam Tank Engine Express has working lights, sounds and multiple speed options, designed to inspire and delight children aged five and over. This is a lovely addition to our Steam Goods Express Train Set, helping to boost your little one’s model world. You can find out more about the benefits of train sets for children here.

The National Festival of Railway Modelling 2025

We attended Britain’s biggest model railway show on the 22^nd and 23^rd November, showing off our latest products and chatting to other enthusiasts about all things model railway related. We even took part in Peco’s diorama challenge – did you see the pictures? We depicted the Hornby offices in model railway form, and we think they’re pretty accurate!

Dear Hornby Christmas Competition

We have officially kicked off Christmas in the model railway world with the launch of our Dear Hornby Christmas Competition. Open to children aged five to 16 years old, this competition encourages you to send us your model railway-related wishlists, in the hope that Santa will make some dreams come true. We’ll be announcing the winners on 8^th December – is your name on the nice list?
